Vintage Crochet Turban Pattern

6.95

When I bought my first house several years ago the lovely woman I bought it from had owned it since 1949. In a closet I discovered that she had left behind a box of quilt squares and vintage mail order crochet patterns. This box was full of treasure to me and “useless old stuff” to her.

This Vintage Crochet Turban Pattern is just one of the patterns I discovered while digging through this gold mine. Who can say how many of these beautiful old patterns still exist today?  I have never seen a turban pattern like this one. It is a complete hat, not just a headband style turban, with a gathered front that you can add an ornament to.

I loved this pattern so much that I immediately set out to make it with the modern yarns available today. I experimented with the pattern and through much trial and error came up with my own version of the vintage pattern that will work with modern yarn and can easily be adapted to accommodate other crochet stitches and stripe patterns for endless possibilities.

I have scanned the original pages of this vintage pattern and cleaned and arranged them to fit on two letter size sheets of paper.  I have also included my own written instructions for making this turban using modern worsted weight yarn suitable for beginner to advanced crocheters. These directions are easily adapted to other yarn sizes and stitch patterns for the more accomplished crocheter. I have also added two color photographs of the turbans I have made using this method.

Please know that I retain all ownership rights to my modern pattern and offer it to you for your own personal use only and not for any financial gain on your part. The vintage pattern lacks any copyright information and therefore assume it to be part of the public domain.
